For those pondering their votes, if you go to www.publicwhip.org.uk and feed it your postcode, it'll tell you how closely your most recent MP followed his/her party line. For instance, ours is New Labour through-and-through, having only opposed them on free votes or votes on parliamentary procedure - at one point he'd voted against the Labour party fewer times than Tony Blair, though he evened it up in January.
Their "how to vote" quiz is based on your views on seven of the more controversial votes of the last parliament (Foundation Hospitals, Student top-up fees, Anti-terrorism laws, Iraq war, ID cards, Foxhunting ban, and equal rights for gays). Again, it compares your views, your MP's views, and the official party line of the top 3 parties.
The public whip site has far more detail on your MP, if you want to go digging, up to and including every word they've uttered in the house, or written on behalf of the government (if they're a minister), and details of every vote they've cast.
For quick answers on your MP's headline voting record, speaking & attendance record, entries in the register of member's interests, and expense claims, head over to www.theyworkforyou.com and do the postcode thang again.
[update: Typical, isn't it? I post that, and both sites go down. Hopefully they will return soon...]
