While this page is primarily touting a script to fix the problem, it also explains in considerable detail why the HTML produced by Microsoft tools is so frequently incompatible with non-Microsoft products.

In short, MS can't even be bothered sticking to ISO-standard fonts, but have to "Embrace and Extend" them too. Blech.

[the same author's "top ten reasons Eternal Damnation is better than Windows Software Development" is also quite amusing for any Microsoft-phobics out there]
