This is *MANCHESTER*
There are a few streets in Manchester where a film is being made. For the last week or so, as I pass on the tram each day, it has been fairly obvious that something is going on. It's the temporary fake walls across streets that give it away.
Tonight, on our way back from the pub, we got to walk through those streets and experience the full effect. Yellow traffic lights, hung over the middle of junctions. Parked yellow cabs. Fire escapes bolted to the sides of buildings. Fire hydrants. Temporary surfaces on the "sidewalks" with embedded steam pipes. Vending machines for the Voice and the NYT. D'ya think this film is set in New York?
It's rather surreal to walk familiar streets, and have them suddenly rendered different.
[update: it would appear that this is the film being made, as
greengolux points out in the comments, and I discovered independently today]
