A couple of weeks ago, the Straight Dope Message Board went off on a riff of LOTR pastiches. Teresa Nielsen Hayden has helpfully edited some highlights for those who, like me, are too lazy to trawl the original thread.

But what the hell, it's damn' good, and the thread on Making Light has a whole bunch of dead clever people being very clever indeed.

I did go to the Straight Dope thread, but had an apathy attack when it came to reading the zillions of (very variable quality) entries. TNH has done a good job of picking fun ones.
