I interrupt this long-term inspiration-deficit-cum-apathy-attack to point you in the direction of a most excellent guide to browser support for CSS3 selectors. In short: support is generally poor, but not as bad as you might think. However, since it almost all degrades gracefully in most browsers1, there's no reason not to think about using them immediately.

1Usual suspects excepted, naturally. <cough>Netscape 4</cough>
