How come...

...duct tape is suddenly part of every American's terrorist incident survival kit?

According to a Washington Post article (annoying survey required to enter) one of the largest manufacturers of duct tape in the US donated over $100k to the Republican party. Their sales are now going through the roof.

You couldn't make this up.

... several different places figured out the same joke at the same time ... Americans have been instructed to make an airtight room somewhere in their house using plastic sheeting and duct tape, to protect against chemical, biological and nuclear (sorry, nook-clear) radiation (if only they had known in Nagasaki ...)

So, if it really is air tight, how long will the people last without fresh oxygen ("it's ok honey, if it get's too stuffy in here, we'll just punch a few air holes in the plastic")

Groan.
