Remember XCom?

That is, X-Com: UFO Defence (AKA UFO: Enemy Unknown), X-Com: Terror From The Deep. (plus sundry ever-decreasing sequels as they drifted further and further from what made the original game so good)

If you liked them, you should investigate UFO: Aftermath very similar gameplay (though the tactical missions are real-time-with-automatic-pause-when-things-get-interesting rather than turn based - an improvement, IMO)

There were more??

I don't remember why I stopped playing it... perhaps I went to University. Not sure.

I'm amazed they created further versions.

The third game was X-Com Apocalypse. It was real-time-with-pause, and had a user interface that drove me completely round the bend. I get pissed off when I lose half my squad because I fumbled a few keystrokes. IIRC, that had difficulty issues, too.

There was also X-Com Interceptor, which was a completely different sort of game (space flight simulator). It wasn't very good.
