Firefly

[IMDB]

Once you get over the central conceit of wild west with spaceships and rayguns (which doesn't take much effort) it's damn good.

Whatever TV executive decided to cancel it obviously wasn't actually watching it (but then, given the quality of some of the stuff that runs for season after season, it's pretty obvious that watching TV isn't high on many TV Execs' agendas)

As has been reported in the last week or so, Whedon has got the go ahead for a film adaptation, with the same cast.

But... I don't want a film, I want a series. Preferably several seasons thereof. Grrr.

Well, I'm looking forward to the film immensely... Partly just because I want to see more Firefly (best thing Whedon's done as far as I'm concerned, and I like Buffy and Angel) but also because there's a strong chance that the film will be used as a springboard for future series...

best thing Whedon's done

I'll not commit to anything that definitive. Yet.

They didn't manage any episodes as good as the best ones in Buffy, but the average standard of Firefly is damn high, and consistently so.

there's a strong chance that the film will be used as a springboard for future series...

We can but hope...

HOORAY!!!

This is great news - a new series would have been wonderful but a film will have to do for the moment

I know a guy who knows a guy who's been hired to make a scale model of the Firefly ship (the Serenity? is that right?) to be used as reference during the movie production. I guess it's his first time doing this for a real live film and he is still walking around stunned. What a project that will be!
